The Ethiopian Muslims Legal-Professionals Association (EMLPA) is a national network of dedicated Muslim legal professionals committed to justice, equality, and the rule of law.
Founded in 2015 by a committed group of Ethiopian Muslim lawyers, EMLPA was born out of a shared desire to give back to the community and to address the growing legal and social injustices faced by Muslims in Ethiopia. Today, the Association brings together over 400 legal scholars, attorneys, judges, and prosecutors under one unified platform.
Officially registered with the Ethiopian Islamic Affairs Supreme Council (EIASC), EMLPA operates with a clear legal mandate (License No. 100/68/17) and a deep sense of responsibility to protect individual rights, challenge systemic discrimination, and promote fair legal representation for all.
We are committed to defending justice, advancing equality, and shaping policy through rigorous research, strategic advocacy, and impactful litigation. We work to empower communities, hold institutions accountable, and eliminate systemic discrimination through legal means.
To create a formidable and enduring organization with a sustainable culture of organized public advocacy that combats injustice and fosters a society rooted in fairness and equality.
EMLPA provides legal support and representation to individuals and institutions, conducts strategic litigation, engages in public advocacy, promotes legal research and publications, and facilitates alternative dispute resolution. Our programs are aimed at building capacity, defending rights, and shaping a more just legal landscape for current and future generations.
